The President of the Italian Republic expressed his deep appreciation for the high social value of this Contest awarding two medals as award of representation.
2010 European Photo Contest “Railways and Integration. Identities and cultures of a multiethnic Europe”
The Contest is addressed to professional and amateur photographers who reside in the six Member States and comprises five stages:
May 20th, 2010: opening of the Contest
May 20th - August 23rd: in this period competitors, EU and non-EU citizens who reside in Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Poland, should submit a maximum of two original and unpublished photos to be included in the "Photogallery"
August 25th - October 5th: in this period the website visitors can vote their favourite photos
October 12th: within this date the Jury of the Contest will choose the winner of the first prize among the first FIFTY photos that obtained the highest score by the website visitors. If among the first fifty photos there were no one from one of the six participating countries, the list will be integrated with photos from the missing countries, following the ranking list. The Jury will award a special prize to a photo taken by a non-EU citizen even if it has not been selected by the online vote. Furthermore it can award at its absolute discretion one or more special mentions to any photo not selected by the online vote.
The Jury is composed of a President and eight members. Four of them are journalists and photographers working for French, Spanish, Belgian and Polish newspapers and TV stations accredited in Italy; four are appointed by Studio immigrazione, ITC, ANFP and Ferrovie dello Stato.
November: Rome, Termini Station. Award ceremony and opening of the exhibition with the most significative photos of the Contest
November 24th: simultaneous opening of the exhibition with forty photos in Paris (Hotel de Ville) and in the main railway stations of Brussels, Madrid, Warsaw and Luxembourg
December 2010/January 2011: exhibition with forty photos in Milan
